About... The Music & Movement Center
Celebrating Our 31st Year!
Yes, its true. Teddi Koch opened the doors of The Music & Movement Center at the Gorton Community Center in 1989 and has been inspiring young children to sing and dance ever since. As you know, The Music & Movement Center is also the place where many parents have created friendships that have lasted years.
It is with that spirit of our love of music and the understanding of the importance of the early years for our children that has kept The Music & Movement Center alive and thriving.
The Music and Movement Center was originally housed on the second floor of the Gorton Community Center in Lake Forest before its move to Midwest Young Artists in the fall of 2011. Classes are offered in music and movement for infants, toddlers and their parents or caretakers. Preschool classes are offered for three, four and five-year-olds without parent.
The mission of The Music and Movement Center at MYAC is to provide a nurturing musical environment for both child and adult. Musical play through singing and dancing together under the facilitation of the teacher is process oriented. Using a variety of musical styles, both live and recorded, gives the participants an avenue to express the joy of music and to explore and grow together. So get ready to sing and dance and play!
We also know that there are many options available to you as parents for music and movement classes and sincerely appreciate the support you have shown for The Music & Movement Center at MYAC.
Thanks!
